Physics interests me because it plays with
different ways to think about the world. Science
in general, however, is not my forte. I was
trying to do some world-building for a story that
takes place on a different planet, and needed to
figure out the physical properties of that planet.
So I asked Pär to describe some of what changes
are likely if you've got air with a higher
concentration of oxygen in it.
P: Hmm, let's see. Nitrogen is the biggest
thing...
K: What about it? What's nitrogen got to do
with air?
P: Something close to eighty percent of our
air is nitrogen.
K: Nitrogen? Air is made up mostly of
nitrogen? I'll be damned. Who knew?
P: Well, just about everyone, except you.
K: Look, I just breathe the stuff, I'm not
hung up on all this labelling crap.
P: Mmhmm.
